Tanhaai

Khwaab ki tarah bikhar jaane ko jee chaahta hai
Aisi tanhaai ke mar jaane ko jee chaahta hai
[Iftikhar Arif]

To shatter like a dream, I wish
Such loneliness- that to die, I wish

Zindagi nahi mein ji raha hoon kisi ka bura khwaab,
aur bada bekhauf hoga woh joh ab tak aankh nahi kholi.

The first line gave me this idea. What's a good word for nightmare? And probably bekhauf could be replaced too.

It was a good couplet, the manner in which death and khwaab ki tarah bikhar jaana have been related.

Very introspective.

vibhav- the idea is splendid, I think you have traversed some fresh ground here

tapasya - sometimes the lines just reflect one's condition so well, they strike a chord - might not be the best poetry necessarily.

Michelangelo Buonarotti said,

"It is my pleasure to sleep
And even more to be stone
As long as pain and dishonour may last
My sole desire is to see and feel no more

Speak softly, I beg you
Do not wake me"

(this is the version i usually refer to, although something is bound to be lost in translation from Italian,
Caro m' è 'l sonno, e più l'esser di sasso,
Mentre che 'l danno e la vergogna dura:
Non veder, non sentir, m' è gran ventura;
Però non mi destar, deh! parla basso
)
